Tossing The Towel

Have you ever had a moment when it seemed all hope was lost? Have you ever been so beat down and exhausted that you were ready to throw in the towel and just give up? You've been trying so hard to keep your head up.  But it just feels like you are drowning in failure and hopelessness. You start to see a little break in the storm and then "BAM!" it is just the calm before the storm. You know, the storm that comes along and really shakes everything up. Read Up,  I've got a word from God for you!

You are not alone. When Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days, Jesus himself was tempted by Satan to throw in the towel. Mark 1:13 states this,  And he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan.

Jesus was tempted many times while in the wilderness but I find the last temptation to be the most interesting. Satan wanted Jesus to give up badly. Satan told Jesus to jump off the very top of a temple and I believe he wanted Jesus dead, just not on the cross. He didn’t want to see Jesus finish the work he was sent to do.

Luke 4:9- And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thy self down from hence. Jesus answered in Luke 4:12 saying "It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." After this was said by Jesus, the bible says that the devil ended all the temptation (this was only one of the temptations during the forty days in the wilderness, but the last one) and departed from him for a season.

You see, Satan would love for us to just throw in the towel. He would do anything in his power to see that he keeps you from your calling and from your promises of God. I like what the word of God says in 1 Corinthians 7:5 - Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

You see, what may seem like a problem to us is just a part of the big plan to God. God hasn't called us to give up and throw in the towel! He has called us to fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:12).

Grit those teeth and clinch on to that towel. Continue to fight that good fight, God has something extraordinary in store for your life! Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!
